Cosleeping, or having a baby sleep close to a parent, has been shown to have several benefits for both the baby and the parent. For the baby, cosleeping can increase feelings of security and stability and improve breastfeeding and overall sleep quality. For the parent, cosleeping can make nighttime feedings and comforting easier and enhance bonding with the baby.

On the other hand, sleep training, which typically involves teaching a baby to fall asleep independently, can be controversial. Some experts argue that sleep training can harm the baby, as it may disrupt their natural sleep patterns and cause feelings of abandonment or distress. Additionally, sleep training can be difficult for parents, as it often involves crying it out, which can be emotionally challenging.

It is important to note that cosleeping can be done safely by following guidelines such as placing the baby on his back, not smoking or drinking alcohol, and not using soft bedding. It is also important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for sleep and parenting. Every parent and child is different, so that the best sleep arrangement may differ for each family.
